Edna Sullivan is an Eastern Kentucky woman who was born in the Harlan County Mountains in the small town of Lynch, Kentucky. Edna left Kentucky immediately after graduating from Cumberland High School in 1968 and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. While in Cleveland she worked, married, and became the parent to three wonderful children, Zina Cooper, Joshua Hopes, and Ashanti Hopes. In the 1970’s Edna returned to the state of Kentucky where she attended the University of Kentucky Southeast Community College and later the University of Louisville where she studied Psychology. Love and marriage took her back to Ohio where she married the second “Love of her life” James Sullivan Jr. and has been married to him for over 33 years. Edna returned to college at Cleveland State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies. She later enrolled in the University of Phoenix where she went on to receive a Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Management and Organizational Leadership. Dr. Sullivan is presently pursuing a duel degree (Master’s/Doctorate) in Divinity from Luther Rice University in Lithonia, Georgia.
Dr. Sullivan is licensed and ordained minister, professional speaker, executive board member for Sports University, graduate school mentor and communication trainer. She served as Assistant Pastor for Zion Baptist Church in Canton, Georgia following the death of her senior pastor and remained in that position until relocating to Hoover, Alabama where she is active in numerous ministries at Riverchase Baptist Church. Through her years of working with the State of Ohio and as a Training and Education Services Partner for H- Capital Management she has gained subject matter expertise in high engagement presentations and effective networking for business and professional success. Her energetic speaking style and unique ability to engage and motivate her family and others to action has earned her the reputation as “Grandma Honey and Dr. Honey the Motivator.”
Edna co-founded the organization Faithful Christian Women of All Ages Inc., a certified nonprofit organization in 1996. She is the author of the research study A Correlational Study of Perceived Transformational Leadership Styles and Job Satisfaction among Social Workers and the book From Gloom & Glitz to Glory.
Edna’s mission is to motivate men, women, children, business leaders and professionals of all disciplines to use their energy, influence and resources to create positive changes in the world.
